Story told by a friend at my retreat... it might be somewhat changed.... but ahh well ...
A young boy was walking along the shore. He notices that several hundred starfish laying on the sand...slowly dying from the sun. So the young boy starts to throw the starfish one by one into the sea, saving their lives. He continues for a long while until his father walks up to him. The fathers says "why do you spend all your time helping the starfish? They don't have any feelings and it is impossible to save all them." The young boy picked up a small starfish and replied, "this one cares"

This weekend that just passed... felt like a dream. First, Will and I went to a retreat somewhere in new jersey. I have been through many retreats before, but never like this one. The main message was being a "good neighbor", which taught both Will and I to avoid stereotyping and hatred. Through this experience I made several new friends as well as strengthening my relationship with God and my friends. Even Will said that he "preferred to stay at the retreat than to go back to Edison", despite the dirty bathrooms, mediocre food, and five hours of sleeping (and the effects of bad garlic bread... don't ask).
Right after the retreat, I went to the sweet-16 party for Eileen. Everyone came in dark dress shirts and the girls came in red/yellow/black dresses. As an escort (someone with is supposed to be one of Eileen's "special friends"), I had to dance with another escort (which just happened to be someone whom I had a crush on ever since 8th grade). We had to do waltz as well as several other dances. I couldn't dance at first, but I slowly learned at the end. Dancing with my partner made me feel really... a mix of emotions. I guess I could say I was extremely happy, but for the most part I felt really nervous. Everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun too. Someone was string raving, Matt was raving and hanging around Christine, Will danced with a couple of people, and Steven was being attacked by Vicky. I saw many of my friends like Arun, John, Jaw Ray, Cheng, and Sai (sry if i missed a couple of people). Overall this was the best weekend of my whole life and i just want to thank Eileen and Christine Chen for making it that way...I am still thinking about her...
